Akwa Ibom State Police Command is to
deploy 424 policemen to maintain security before, during and after the
international friendly between Super Eagles and Atletico Madrid FC of
Spain.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, DSP Odiko MacDon disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
The match scheduled to hold this evening
at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo is scheduled to
kick off at 6.00pm.
He said the Police Command is to
maintain security during the match in collaboration with sister security
agencies and stakeholders in sports administration.
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command in
collaboration with sister security agencies and stakeholders in sports
administration are working assiduously to facilitate adequate security
in accordance with international Standard to ensure a hitch-free
International friendly match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and
Atletico Madrid Fc of Spain.
“The Command is determined to ensure
that soccer loving Nigerians and visitors enjoy the football match in a
peaceful atmosphere devoid of infractions.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adeyemi
Ogunjemiluisi, enjoined all soccer loving fans visiting the Nest of
Champions and the state to conduct themselves in orderly and hospitable
manners during the game and after as the Command will not hesitate to
deal decisively with miscreants and hooligans who may want to take undue
advantage of the existing peace and security in Akwa Ibom State, he
stressed,” he concluded.
